What do Doulas do?
What do Doulas do?
Your Doula will get to know you, your partner, and your birthing goals through your prenatal consults. They will answer your questions and provide you with resources throughout your pregnancy. They will be on-call 24/7 from 38 weeks until your labour ends. They will attend your labour, giving you and your partner suggestions for positioning, breathing, decreasing pain, and holding space for emotional support. They will witness the birth of your baby, and visit you postpartum to ensure your recovery is going smoothly.
In my personal business as a doula, I tend to focus on education, local resources/groups, helping partners feel comfortable and included, and providing Massage Therapy for pain relief during the birth.
It's important that your Doula is the right fit for you.
This is an extremely intimate process! It is important that your Doula is someone you feel comfortable with and confident in. Thats why we offer a free initial consultation- so we can get to know each other. This will help to ensure that the Doula you choose is the one that is right for you!
